AFTER last week's cold weather everyone at the Flyers Tournament in Birkenhead Park was delighted to enjoy a pleasant morning in the sunshine.
None more so than Heswall RBL's John Lloyd who, continuing the good form he has shown since returning to play on a Sunday morning, took his first win for some time.
In the final he beat Tixall's Ian Hazlehurst who is continuing to improve after coming back to the game after repair work on his bowling arm.
After being too good for Wallasey RBL's Colin Watterson in the quarter finals Lloyd showed no sentiment beating 'birthday boy' Nigel Hughes in a tremendous semi final match, just squeaking through with a 21-20 win.
In his quarter final match Hazlehusrt beat Port Sunlight Village and Work's Peter McBride before he also had to fight hard in the semis just pipping his club mate at Tixalls, Mick Andrews.
The final was an excellent match but Lloyd generally had the upper hand and he ran out a fairly comfortable 21-15 winner.
