MANOR Road became the Birkenhead and Wirral Afternoon Section 2013 Shield Champions when they beat Heswall RBL 'B' in the final of the tournament on a wet Royden Hall green on Friday by 199 to 181.

On their way to the final, the Heswall Club had already beaten two first division opponents but on the day the Wallasey team was just too strong and with nine winners made short work of the 40 point starting deficit.

For Manor Road their biggest winner was Ken Stocker's 21-02 while Malcom Gilfoyle was Heswall's only winner.

This Friday, September 20, is the final of the Centenary Cup. It brings together Birkenhead Park SC and Royden Hall, with the match being played at the Lever Club, 1.30pm start.

Geoff Dewhurst, with a fantastic 21-02 win, and Dave Tinker gave them a great start and with five winners overall it was a very good performance by the team.
