CHILDREN from two primary schools in Heswall helped spruce up the area by replanting the beds outside the town hall and Library.
Pupils from St Peter's Primary and Heswall Primary helped create a floral display that includes a poppy bed commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of The First World War.
After the planting, Jenny McRonald community association The Heswall Society talked with groups of children about Heswall at that time.
Heswall Hall and The Heswall Society had each been successful in obtaining grants for the replanting work from Wirral Council's "Love Wirral" Fund to buy the plants.
Money will also be used to pay for 12 planters in the town centre and for replanting Gayton Roundabout, when the poppies there have died back.
