TWO men were arrested and cautioned for possession of cannabis as part of a crackdown on anti-social behaviour at a Wirral beauty spot.

During the multi-agency campaign, which took place on Wednesday and Thursday, police carried out searches on Bidston Hill.

Thety worked alongside park rangers and friends of Bidston Hill.

A number of historic seats of fire were found along with a handbag and its contents.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the owner of the bag.

The men arrested and cautioned for possession of cannabis were aged 24 and 25 and from Birkenhead.

Inspector Cliff Barr, who led the operation for Merseyside Police, said: "The action is part of the Force's ongoing commitment to tackle anti-social behaviour and we will continue to carry out patrols on Bidston Hill in our efforts to make the area a safe place for all."
