A YOUNG Birkenhead man accused of murdering and robbing a retired greengrocer appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today.
Dean Brennan, of Laird Street, faces a charge of murdering 71-year-old Bert Allanson, on March 22 in Dawson Avenue, Birkenhead, and robbing the pensioner of an unknown quantity of cash.
Brennan, 20, who appeared via video link from Altcourse prison, was further remanded in custody by the Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, until June 7 when he is expected to enter his pleas.
A date for his trial was provisionally fixed to begin on September 3.
