A WIRRAL school has warned parents to be alert to an alleged kidnapper approaching children in the area.

Cathcart Primary School in Birkenhead has sent letters home after parents reported incidents of attempted abductions.

It comes days after a Wirral father contacted the Globe after his 12-year-old daughter was “grabbed” on her way home from school on Tuesday, December 6.

The St John Plessington pupil, who we are not naming, was walking along Patten Street with a friend when a man started a conversation with them.

She reported to her dad that the stranger asked how far the girls had to go until they were home and then grabbed her arm.

The father said: “The girls started to feel a bit wary when this man asked how far they were from home so my daughter pointed to the nearest house and said she lived there.

"It was at that moment he grabbed her arm but they managed to push him off and ran away.”

He reported the alarming incident to police.

Reports of similar incidents in the area have since been made on the Globe’s Facebook page, although at this point we have no evidence as to their accuracy.

The Globe has contacted Merseyside Police, who said they were aware of a single reported incident and are collating information before making a response.
