Wirral rush-hour traffic disrupted after lorry sheds load
RUSH-HOUR traffic in Bidston came to a standstill this morning after a large wooden cable drum fell off a lorry.
Police were called to Hoylake Road at around 9am.
On arrival they found the lorry and cable reel in the road at its junction with Fender Lane and Valley Road, in the direction of Birkenhead.
The reel had stopped just inches away from a vehicle, but there were no injuries.
The A553 Hoylake Road Eastbound is currently closed, while recovery work to remove the lorry and wheel is carried out.
Drivers planning to go to Birkenhead along Hoylake Road are advised to find an alternate route.
