A 24-year-old man from Manchester has been charged with driving offences after a collision on Leasowe Road in Wallasey on Monday.

Zabair Akram, of Bolton Road, Pendlebury, Swinton, was arrested following the crash.

He has since been charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He will appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court this morning.

Two women aged 18 and 19 also arrested in connection with the incident have been released without charge.

A 27-year-old couple and their six-month-old baby travelling in the car struck by the vehicle Akram is alleged to have been driving needed hospital treatment.
