SOUTH Wirral High School opened its doors to 200 interested visitors to show them the new improvements to the buildings and the wonderful facilities now available to enable them to provide the best education possible.

It was a bonus that Prince Edward agreed to attend for one hour to watch some lessons, view the new facilities and to unveil a plaque to commemorate the occasion. It was only then that the majority of pupils and visitors saw him briefly on stage - and he was obviously impressed by what he'd seen.

Unfortunately, it was not possible for all the pupils to attend that day as some teachers had to look after the visitors.

I'm astonished that two angry parents have felt it necessary to air their complaints to the Press. For goodness sake, be thankful that your children are attending such a good school and try to set them a good example by treating the headteacher and staff with the respect they deserve.

Incidentally, in my day most children were only too pleased to be given a day off school!
