Wirral Sunday League round-up with Rob James
WITH extra-time beckoning, Jamie Whittaker bagged his second goal of the game as Sportsman's overcame Premier Division rivals Right Place Recruitment to book their passage to the Wirral Sunday League Premier Cup semi-finals.
RPR's response in the 2-1 defeat was a goal from the hard working Carl Mulrooney.
St Joseph's rediscovered their touch after two-goal Dave Favager pulled the strings in the 5-2 elimination of current Premier Division leaders Old Market. Further goals by Franny Tolman, Mike Vernon and an own goal were enough to seal Market's fate.
Strongly fancied Victoria Seniors also went through to the last four after putting paid to Old House. Glen Rooney, Scotty Houghton and a rare effort from stalwart Darren O'Reilly confirmed a 3-1 score line.
Lancelyn completed the quartet of semi-finalists, two-goal Stuey Jones taking the plaudits in Sunday's 4-2 triumph at Pollards Inn (Adam Lacey, Chris Jones). Dean Corris and Kevin Murphy also netted for the victors.
