TWO goals by Andy Boulton and one from Rob Courtney earned Queens Park a super 3-1 win at Oakenshaw in the FA National Sunday Cup to turn the clock back to the glory days.

Brow also travelled to Bradford in the same competition - and defeated Buttershaw Whitestar 1-0. The all-important goal came from Danny Brookes.

There was no such luck, however, for Dock, who exited from the competition in an eight-goal thriller at home to Liverpool side Lobster FC. Goals by Chris Bolland, Mike McGraa and Colin O'Hanlon were not enough as Lobster proved too hot to handle, replying with five goals, two of them from the outstanding Thomas Rooney.

Meanwhile, in the Premier Division, Houlihan's Variety Club gained their first win of the season, beating Shaftesbury 1886 3-1. Prolific marksman Steve Mills, 2, and Mark Bishop earned Houlihan's three vital points in their relegation struggle.

FC Prenton, still seeking their first victory of the campaign, fell 1-0 to the much-improved Shaftesbury 02, Alan Martin netting the goal.

Division One leaders Bidston Hotel had an excellent 2-0 win at Heygarth FC, thanks to an own goal and a Jason Senogles strike.

But Rock Ferry Social suffered their first defeat of the season, at the hands of Hoylake Athletic, for whom Danny Mulla's goal proved vital in a 1-0 win.

Rangers Breaks' John Green goal was to prove just a consolation as St John's Celtic triumphed 2-1 with goals from Steven Baker and Gavin Evans.

In the Wirral District FA Sunday Junior Cup, four-goal Ben Johnston blasted Bushells Athletic through to the next round in a 5-2 triumph at Baltic Fleet. Martyn Kent netted the fifth.
