Vauxhall Motors . . . . . 5

Worksop Town . . . . . . 2

VAUXHALL Motors warmed up for this Saturday's eagerly awaited FA Cup third qualifying round tie at Rivacre Park against North West Counties League hotshots Skelmersdale United with their best-ever home victory in the Nationwide North.

They crushed Worksop Town with a performance that had their fans purring once again. Kick-off on Saturday is at 1pm, to avoid clashing with England's televised World Cup qualifier.

All the signs are the Motormen have finally turned the corner, as manager Owen Brown celebrated his 100th game in charge in some style.

Leading 2-0 at the break, thanks to two strikes from Peter Cumiskey, Worksop pulled a goal back just beyond the hour mark, but this merely acted as a spur to the home side, who struck twice more in the next six minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

Scott Willis scored his first goal for the club and a header from Thomas Rooney quickly followed for his second Motors' goal in two games.

But the best was still to come, as Leighton McGivern, the source of two earlier goals, hit an unstoppable left foot shot from the corner of the box, having mesmerized his marker leading up to the strike. Worksop responded almost immediately and before the end Motors goalkeeper Tim Dittmer saved a penalty.
