Extra-time decider

AFTER dumping Old Bank out of the cup, Parkfield BA Reserves took Nue Ave to the wire, in the Birkenhead Saturday Soccer League, on Saturday, before losing 4-2 after extra time. Andy Gamm, Phil Griffiths and an own goal registered for Nue Ave, but Steve Cooke and Steve Smith replied for Parkfield.

Beehive stung Clipper 5-2, with Gary Bateman, Paul Rooke and Lee Megtrick among the goals. Neil Jones and Peter Jones replied.

In the 'match of the day', Comet were 3-2 up with six minutes to go, but amazingly Houlihan's PR won 4-3, with two goals in the final minutes. Steve Walsh, Andy Kelly and match hero Alan Sheridan were among Houlihan's PR scorers.

John Blundell, Scott Dowell and John Roberts were among Royal Liver's scorers in a 4-2 win over Wirral Hospitals.

In Division Two, Wirral Health destroyed second place Bird in Hand 4-1, with John Buckenam, 2, and Dave Lampett, 2, on target. Tarin stay top after a 3-0 victory over Overchurch, with two of the goals scored by Martin Lewis and Alan Jones. Despite a Peter Walsh hat-trick, Delta lost 5-3 to Clarence, who are pushing hard for second place.
