SHAUN Teale, Tranmere Rovers' record signing, has joined Division Two club Preston North End on a month's loan. The 32-year-old central defender, signed from Aston Villa 18 months ago for a £450,000 fee, wants competitive football, after losing his place in the Tranmere side at the turn of the New Year.
Said player-manager John Aldridge: "Shaun doesn't want to play reserve team football and I can understand that. He needs first team football and the loan to Preston will give him that opportunity."
Teale will link up at Preston with former Tranmere striker Gary Bennett.
Tranmere Reserves face Blackburn Reserves at Prenton Park this evening (Wednesday), kick-off 7pm.
