VISITORS to Brotherton Park and the Dibbinsdale Nature Reserve, Bromborough, will now be able to follow the Wildflower Trail by observing poster maps funded courtesy of Unilever at Port Sunlight.

Creating a wildflower map was the idea of Mansur Mohammadi of Unilever Research Laboratory, based in the picturesque Wirral village.

"For me, the Dibbinsdale Reserve has always softened the industrial and built-up image of the locality and provided a sanctuary for communing with nature," said Mansur.

He added: "From when I first started working for Unilever, I dreamt of a poster of the reserve's wildflowers as a reflection of its riches and beauty. This dream took nine years, together with a generous contribution from Unilever, to realise."

Local artist John Burrows produced 29 drawings of selected species of flowers chosen to represent the richness of the reserve's flora on the edge of its footpaths.

The poster shows the names, flowering times and locations along the main footpaths between the two entrances on the Spital and Dibbinsdale roads. It provides a glimmer of the reserve's beauty in diversity and enhances visitors' enjoyment and awareness of this area of woodland.

The posters can be found in the Rangers office and in the display cabinets on the reserve.
