LOCAL historian Joyce Hockey has been given permission for hi-tech computer classes for mums and tiny tots to continue in a conservation area, despite an objection from a nearby resident.

She applied to MDC, on behalf of Dr. A. Jones, of Wellington Road, New Brighton, for the after school classes to continue after January 29.

However, the resident said cars visiting the classes in Wellington Road utilised limited parking and it was a residential and conservation area.

Merseyside Development Corporation accepted there is slight increase in parking but not enough to erode the residential amenities. Planning permission was granted for two years.

Mrs Hockey, of Atherton Street, New Brighton, said she was aware of the residential nature of the neighbourhood but she did not think the computer classes caused parking problems.

MDC allowed the classes to continue between 9am and 7.30 pm, Monday to Friday, but not weekends or bank holidays.
