HOYLAKE resident, Hilda (Dolly) Simpson celebrated her 100th birthday and raised over £1,000 for the Roy Castle Cause for Hope Appeal.
Celebrations took place in Ashton Park, where a Victorian park bench provided by her family was dedicated to her. Mrs Simpson worked in the park as a land girl during World War One.
A party was held at St John's Church centre, Meols, where she was hostess to 100 guests.
To raise the money, Mrs Simpson requested that no presents should be brought but was pleased to receive donations to the charity.
Dolly has three daughters and one son, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She has lived all her life in Hoylake and was born in Dawson Street, now Groveland Avenue.
