From Robert Astick, Royal Artillery Heritage Campaign:-THE Royal Artillery Heritage are currently undertaking a campaign aiming to build a museum to tell the history of artillery through the ages on the banks of the River Thames in the Old Royal Arsenal.
It is intended to achieve the final balance of a new state of the art museum, while at the same time maintaining the dignity which should be accorded to those who served.
It has been estimated that there are over a million retired Gunners in the United Kingdom, many of whom live in the North West of England. We believe it important that all these people and their families know of our plans.
As well as retired Gunners, I am sure many readers will be interested in our attempts to save part of our national heritage.
This project is not aimed purely at the South East of England as we also have fund raising teams in other areas. As a result, over £5.7 million has been given or pledged to the project already. For further details, contact me on 0181 317-9971, or at the address below.
