From J. Evans:- I HAVE two grandsons who were 'placed' by so called Training . . . Training what?
Following a period with their employers the eldest, aged 19, was officially taken on at £80 per week. His brother has been offered permanent work at £65 per week.
Their so called employers know full well that they have little prospects elsewhere and that they dare not leave as they would not receive benefit, though benefit is not what they want.
While this situation has been brought about by Conservatives, Labour offer nothing better.
I have complained to Frank Field and posed a question or two, - as yet, without reply.
The attitude that this is good for them is not on when exploitation is rife.
Is it not possible for youngsters to have job experience, enabling them to get used to getting up and out in the mornings on a three day week basis, thus allowing them some time exploring job centres?
Youngsters ought to have some rights and protection, but what is overlooked by both parties is the dignity of man.
I admit that there is an element among young people who would not submit to this and would no doubt raise the initial £35 per week much more easily by petty crime.
