VOLCLAY secured the Third Division Championship of the Wallasey and District Sunday Soccer League at the first time of asking as they cruised home 5-0 against wooden spoonists Hotel Victoria. Paul Jones, 2, Daryl Karisa, Steve Cox and Archie Filshill did the damage.

Runners-up spot is still up for grabs due to Lighthouse beating Stanley's Cask 3-1, with goals by Chris Evans, Steve Lockwood and Steve Smythe. Albion came from 0-3 down to beat Wallasey RBL 8-3, with goals from Mike Sprott, 2, Neil Cotgrave, 2, Carl Lloyd, Steve Mole, Phil Cotgrave and Ken Jackson.

Premier Division leaders Nelson Vics trounced St Mary's 6-0 with goals from Kevin Pink, 3, and Mike Williams, 2. They kept their three point advantage over Poulton Royal/Dale, who beat Hilbre Court 2-1, thanks to Chris Grierson and Jason Broadbent goals.

St Joseph's climbed into fourth place after disposing of Premier Social 4-0.

Division One can be won by any one of three sides following Steve Harold's last minute penalty winner for Gorsedale over leaders Telegraph and Armchair's 9-2 thrashing of Parkfield, thanks to goals by Paul Chapple, 3, Steve Renshaw, 2, Dave Roberts, Steve Smith, Russ Greenop and Andy Triggs.

Prince Alfred recorded their best win of the season as they scored six past 27 Club, with Brian Highton, 2, Gordon Turner, 2, Tim Jones and Andy Charlesworth on the mark.

Harvest maintained their one point lead in Division Two after dominating their game against a spirited Rose & Crown side, but only taking the points thanks to a fourth minute Phil Hardy effort.

Duncan Van Marle scored for Old Bank in their 1-1 derby match draw with Lord Nelson, who replied through Neil Whitburn. Vanser Club surprisingly lost 2-4 against Brackenwood, who had Peter McGhee, 3, and Ian Barton netting.
