TRANMERE Rovers were desperately unlucky not to get three points against Manchester City, last Tuesday, in front of a season's best attendance of 12,019 at Prenton Park. Despite Gary Jones giving Rovers the lead with a clinical header, Liam O'Brien's fluke own goal four minutes from time told its own story about the way Lady Luck has gone against them this season. Tranmere created some good openings, but couldn't make it count in front of goal.
It was a similar story during Saturday's 0-0 draw with lowly Grimsby Town. Eric Nixon capped a fine display with two magnificent saves.
Rovers Youth team face Everton in the Lancashire Youth Cup 2nd round at Goodison Park tomorrow (7pm).
