ASDA'S Liscard store asks local schools to take up the Computer Challenge '97, in a bid to claim much needed computer equipment for their pupils. The scheme will continue until Sunday, May 4.

'Computer Buddy' Ann Lever will be on hand at Asda Liscard to offer practical advice and assistance to help schools secure the support of the local community in collecting computer vouchers.

Having collected enough, the vouchers can be redeemed against the latest state-of-the-art Multimedia PC, developed with Viglen, which will have a built-in modem and three months' free Internet access, Epson printers and software packages.

Vouchers will be awarded for every £25 spent in store, redemption of money saving 'Checkout Saver' coupons and recycling of aluminium cans through ALCAN. In addition, there will be on going promotions throughout the scheme's 12 week duration when bonus vouchers will be given against purchases of leading brand products such as Kelloggs, Coca Cola, Ariel, Pampers and Walkers Crisps.

"The '97 campaign follows on from the highly successful 1996 Challenge in which over 7,000 schools participated, in our area, who claimed over £3 million of computer equipment," said George Fletcher, General Store Manager.

"It is a tremendous opportunity for local people to help their local schools in getting computer equipment they may not have otherwise been able to have."

Schools who registered to take part in last year's scheme have automatically received information on the 1997 scheme. Any others should call the ASDA Helpline on Freephone 0500-474645 for details.
