THE Puddyvale Challenge Playground in Heswall, designed to give years of pleasure to local children, has been dedicated to the memory of Andrew Fielding.

Andrew, who played at the ground as a child, tragically died three years ago in a car accident at the age of 18. He also coached young teenagers at Puddyvale as a teenager.

His mother, Pauline Fielding, of Downham Road South, Heswall, cut the ribbon and unveiled a plaque in Andrew's memory at the official opening last Saturday.

She praised the work of those who made the refurbishment of the playground possible. One of the organisers, Ruth Jones, said they were delighted with the success of the challenge, launched in 1994 to raise £35,000.

Various fund raising events, donations, a grant for £10,000 from the Foundation for Sport and Art and cash from Wirral Council turned the dream into a reality.
