TWO young men said to have taken advantage of cut-price lager at a club and to have consumed eight or nine pints each, then stole from a clothes store after the display window was broken, Wirral magistrates heard.
Gerard Milligan, aged 21, of Grasswood Road, Woodchurch, and Stephen Wynne, 19, of Euston Grove, Oxton, were found near Burtons in the Grange Precinct at 2.40am after the alarm had been activated.
Both had cut hands and bloodstained clothing from the store nearby. They admitted burglary and theft of clothing worth £694 but denied they smashed the window, saying it had already been broken when they arrived on the scene at 2.40 am.
It was claimed it was an 'opportunist' offence. They were each fined £240 plus £40 costs.
