re-union call

STEP forward, all those who were pupils at Wirral Grammar School for Boys in 1971-72 . . .

Ex-classmate Stan Smith, of Heswall, is planning a 25th anniversary re-union this Summer and wants to hear from as many former pupils as possible.

Those who would like to attend can telephone Stan on 342-5488.

Calling the Hacklands . . .

AILEEN Watt wants to contact her aunt and cousin, Joan and Anne Hackland, who lived in Heswall some 15 years ago.

Aileen, who now lives in Scotland, can be contacted on 01738-625650.

GLOBE readers are being asked to help re-unite two sisters who have met, fleetlingly, only once since their parents split up 24 years ago.

Vikki Wilson was just two-years-old when her parents separated in 1973. Her elder sister, Pam, believed to still be living in Wirral, was five at the time.

"I went with my father, Keith Darlington, and now stepmother Dianne," recalls Vikki. "Pam went with my natural mother Patricia, who has since re-married and her surname is Thompson."

She adds: "We then lost all contact and I was too young to understand and forgot that Pam was my sister - I thought Dianne was my real mum and I suppose my dad thought it was kinder to keep it that way . . .

"Dianne took me to see Pat and her new husband, and Pam, when I was about seven years old. I thought they were just old friends of my parents and it did not click, but Pamela did know and was upset throughout the day.

"I never saw them again . . . They lived at a New Brighton (Wallasey) address and I believe Pam may still live in the area - I so want to be re-united with her."

Vikki was about 13 years old when she finally discovered the truth. "Pam was trying to make contact with me, but with one thing and another I did not get to see her . . ."

Vikki now lives near Wrexham, North Wales. Her father is living in the Shetland Isles, Scotland.

If anyone can help to re-unite Vikki with her long lost elder sister, please ring the Globe newsdesk on 666-2244 and we will pass the information on.

Still time to attend

ORGANISERS of a school re-union being organised for former pupils of Wirral Grammar School for Girls have had an 'amazing' response to an appeal published in the Globe.

The event takes place at the school in Bebington on Saturday, May 3, when the guest of honour will be former teacher Mrs Dorothy Cheesley. Those who would like to attend can contact April McGoldrick on 625-7758.
