EURO CAR Series '97 starts in Wirral. This exciting high profile series of race days has been acclaimed the most entertaining form of motor sport to hit British circuits for many years.

Based on the hugely successful NASCAR Series in America, it pits drivers against each other in spectacular evenly matched racing. Euro cars have captured the imagination of the race going public, producing some of the closest action packed racing ever seen in the UK. One of the drivers comes from Wirral.

Twelve races in just over five hours increased TV coverage, and non-stop action from 12 noon until 5.15pm.

Since its conception in 1994 Eurocar has progressed faster than any other new form of motor sport.

In line with the five year plan for the class, Eurocar Racing Ltd has announced that 1997 will see each of the 14 rounds being dedicated Eurocar Race Days, with five different categories of car racing, commencing with the awesome 5.8 litre 460bhp/V8's - 2.9 litre 230bhp Ford Mondeo lookalikes. These, like their V8 big brothers, are based on space frame chassis.

Then there is the brand new 'Pick up Sport Series,' based again on a space frame chassis and 2 litre 200bhp engine, and the 125bhp Yamaha engined Legends, 5/8 scale models of 1930s American Sedans.

Finally, Formula First 1600cc single seaters. This is a spectacle to behold.

Driver is Cliff Butler, who with his daughter Julie raced in the Mondeo V6's last year. Cliff, who has already been out at Mallory Park this year, will be competing in the full series.

Unfortunately, daughter Julie, who competed last year as the only lady driver, has run out of funds at the present time. Any help in sponsorship would be truly appreciated. It seems a shame for talent to be wasted. That is what the old timer Cliff thinks.

If you are able to help at all, contact Cliff or Julie Butler at Butlers Skip Hire, Breck Road, Wallasey.
