DURING a recent television documentary on the DSS's success in saving millions of pounds thanks to the introduction of a free DSS direct telephone line, used by members of the general public to anonymously pass on information about persons obtaining extra, illegal benefits - the public were not informed as to how much cash the DSS holds in unclaimed benefits, a sum said to run into billions of pounds!
Perhaps the DSS hierarchy, in keeping with one successful hot-line service, could introduce a new one? A direct line so that members of the public can anonymously pass on even more information, only this time pertinent to persons, especially pensioners, who are being underpaid by the DSS.
