ROMANCE is most definitely in the air at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall on April 13 with an event to raise money for Merseyside Youth Orchestra's August tour of Poland.

Royal Insurance has already stepped in to sponsor the MYO concert at the Phil, featuring a double bill of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No 2, followed by a showing of Brief Encounter, the classic 1945 romance starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard, in which it features so memorably.

The orchestra, whose old boys include Sir Simon Rattle, has a long tradition for being a spawning ground of the North West's best young talented musicians.

MYO chairman Geoff Cowie explains: "The MYO has always given young musicians the chance to experience concert atmosphere, both at home and abroad, but in order to continue, we feel we must seek help."

So for an evening of romance, ring the Phil's box office on 709-3789.
