TWO aspring athletes from Wirral Metropolitan College completed the 13-mile Great North Run in Newcastle.
The half marathon had a total of 35,000 entrants, and for Roy Craven and Melanie Greaves this was their first ever attempt at this distance.
Melanie, from Eastham, is captain of the Wirral Met College Women's football team and Roy, from Oxton, is a qualified boxing coach working at the Cavendish boxing club. Both are studying the BTEC National Diploma in Science (Sport Studies) at Wirral Met College, and they are hoping to go into Higher Education to study P.E. or Sports Science upon completion of their programme.
The duo are now set to take part in the City of Liverpool 10K race on October 12.
