CITIES in Schools Wirral has been awarded £160,000 by the National Lottery Charities Board to support disadvantaged young Wirral people aged 16-19 into education, training and employment.
Speaking earlier today, Chair of Cities in Schools Eric Roberts said: "This is tremendous news for the organisation which has proved that it can make such positive changes in the lives of disadvantaged young people. It will allow us to improve our support and increases our chances of attracting European funding. This is also a very exciting time for us particularly with the new Government's declared intention of getting young people back into work."
Cities in Schools Wirral, which is part of a national network of CiS charities, works to support young people aged 5-19 who are out of the education and training system through individually tailored programme of education and placements with local employers. CiS is able to achieve high levels of success through innovative projects which co-ordinate services to disadvantaged young people.
