TESCO store manager Bob Arrowsmith hopes thousands of shoppers visiting the Heswall store on Friday, October 10, will be wearing jeans for National Genes Day. Customers and staff are encouraged to wear jeans and to donate £1 to the 1997 Jeans for Genes Day. The store will also be selling special rivet-style jeans badges for £1 until October 10. Money raised funds gene therapy research to fight conditions such as cystic fibrosis, haemophilia and baby in a bubble syndrome.

VINTAGE car enthusiast Ron Owen, of Little Neston, escorted the famous film car Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for the official opening of a car park in Birkenhead's Grange shopping centre. The Chester Vintage Enthusiasts' Club member took along his 1934 Austin 10 Cabriolet.

PEOPLE in Neston and Ellesmere Port have the chance to put their views to the police at a forum in the Civic Hall, Ellesmere Port, on Tuesday, October 7, at 7.30pm, when residents can have a say on local policing. Comments on blackspots, burglaries, nuisance youths, or any crime-related incidents will be welcomed.
