A FORMER Wirral insurance broker who stole £8,000 from two customers has appeared at Liverpool Crown Court.

Alan Winrow pleaded guilty to stealing a credit balance of £8,000 from Kathleen and Wilfred Jacques.

He also admitted forging an insurance policy. Both offences occured between July and December, 1983.

Mr Trevor Parry Jones, prosecuting, said that in 1983 Winrow was an insurance broker operating from Wirral Insurance Mortgage Bureau in Shellmarsh Close, Higher Bebington.

Mr and Mrs Jacques engaged him to prepare two insurance policies and handed over two cheques for £4,000 and £8,000.

Winrow arranged the £4,000 policy but not the other one and appropriated the £8,000.

Winrow, of Speedwell Drive, Ballsall Common, near Coventry, was further remanded on bail to await sentence on October 17. Conditions of his bail include two sureties totalling £60,000.

Remanding him Judge Denis Clark warned him that all the sentencing options were open to him.
