A BRAND new painting of Irby - never seen before - is to make its debut at Irby Methodist Church over the weekend.
Painted in acrylic and measuring 16 ft by 8 ft, the mural stretches across four removable panels to form a panorama view.
The mural is entitled 'From Irby to the Dee' and features a good likeness of the village, including the farmhouse in Mill Hill Road where the first Irby Methodist held meetings in the 1860s.
The mural is the work of local artist Margaret Lang, who attended St Martin's School of Art, London, before moving to Irby with artist husband Fergus in the 1960s. She taught art at Wirral Grammar School for Girls before moving to Wirral Met College.
The mural is centrepiece of the weekend exhibition called 'Harvest of Talents' in the church. Blank greeting cards featuring the mural will also be for sale
Barnston WI has just had a spring clean of the hall where they meet. At the September meeting Brian Forshaw gave a demonstration of Bridale glass blowing and shared the secret of getting a ship into a bottle!
