NOISY protests by Meols residents over controversial plans to open a children's home at Brookfield have prompted proposals for a raft of safety measures at Wirral Council chamber.
A review of safety at meetings attended by the public has examined the numbers of people allowed into the public gallery. A reduction from 70 down to 50 is being suggested and numbers allowed in committee rooms is also being reviewed.
The sound system now available to the Mayor and councillors will be used in a more friendly format. Additional safety measures being considered include no parking near the town hall, increased police presence, queuing systems outside the town hall, plus better communication with people waiting to attend meetings.
