TULIP INTERNATIONAL workers in Wallasey are being urged to join the march to save their jobs, on Saturday, October 4, from Birkenhead Park main gates starting 11.30 am. Union officer Brenda Sanders, at Premier Brands, also wants the people of Wallasey to join the march into Birkenhead town centre. "Wallasey has suffered job losses with one factory closure after another. We must do something to stop this, otherwise the community will surely die a death from a thousand cuts."
Tulip's cooked meat operations at New Brighton and Moreton are being moved to Wellinboro' with the loss of 450 jobs. Wirral Council is trying to put together a greenfield site package to keep Tulip in Wirral.
