And this week, he learnt that his 12 months of studying have paid off, when he was awarded the prestigious Retail Jewellers' Gemstone Diploma.

For Graeme, aged 26, who is based at the Birkenhead branch of Pykes, this is the latest in a series of awards to hang on his office wall.

As a jewellery design student at Kent Institute of Art and Design, he won two design awards and received a bursary award in a challenge to create an 18-carat brooch.

Graeme, who lives in Prenton, began his career with Pykes' Ringtime in Birkenhead after completing an HND in Jewellery Design and Precious Metals. He transferred to the Grange Road head office 18 months later - and he's been studying ever since.
