HOSTS Cammell Lairds conceded their first goals of the Carlsberg West Cheshire League campaign, on Saturday, when they lost 2-1 to Ashville. Debut boy Micky Welton was the hero, netting a late winner after Robbie Tynan's penalty wiped out a Mike Douglas opener for Ashville.

Supersub Dave Mustoe was a three goal hero for Stork, who overturned a 2-0 deficit late in the game to beat Blacon 4-2, Andy Graham scoring the other. Steve Handley and Paul Finch scored for Blacon.

A first half hat-trick by Mark Brady set Heswall on their way to an 8-3 victory over Bromborough Pool, with others coming from Chris Durkin, 2, Dave Huyton, John Cody and Nick Scholes. Graham Swavey, Chris Brown and Terry Williams (penalty) replied for Pool.

Terry Lucas gave Mersey Royal an interval lead at home to Mond Rangers, but the visitors wrapped up a 3-1 win with two goals from ex-Runcorn star Karl Thomas and Gerry McCabe.

Moreton earned their second point of the campaign from a 1-1 draw with visiting Christleton, but Newton crashed to a 6-0 reversal at league leaders Shell (Lloyd Oldfield, 3, Robbie Manning, Stu Wright and Ian Chapman).

A Kevin Pink hat-trick was the feature of Poulton Victoria Reserves 7-0 Wirral Amateur Cup success over Shell Reserves, while Ashville Reserves (Dave McDermott, 2, Brian Johnson and Jason Broadbent) overcame Moreton Reserves 4-2.

Gary Reay gave Division Two pacesetters Heswall Reserves a two goal advantage at West Kirby, and after Keith Rooney spurned a chance to increase the lead from the penalty spot, the hosts hit back to snatch a point thanks to Roy Price and John Ward. Stork Reserves, with Paul Scarisbrook (2), Tim Corcoran and Ben McHugh on target, gained revenge for last month's defeat at Cammell Laird Reserves, with a 4-2 win.
