BIRKENHEAD'S Battle of Trafalgar has been won by both sides: Merseyside Development Corporation and Mersey Docks and Harbour Company.
MDC earmarked a site at 12 Quays, Birkenhead, for an Irish Sea Ro Ro ferry terminal. MDHC came up with a rival scheme for Trafalgar Dock, Liverpool.
Now MDC Chief Executive Chris Farrow says a deal has been struck for MDHC to develop both sites for Ro Ro Ferries. "We have land and statutory interests in both projects and look forward to working with MDHC to realise these projects as quickly as possible. At last, we are sailing!"
