YOUNGSTERS from Wallasey Swimming Club have been making a bit of a splash nationally by picking up a whole host of medals.

At the Small Fry Gala at Leeds International Pool, a small contingent from Wallasey finished fourth out of 18 clubs from as far afield as Dublin. A good performance with 12 medallists and 11 other finalists.

RESULTS:

Gold: Nine year girls' freestyle relay 'A' team.

Silver: Mark McNee, 12 year 50m butterfly; 10 year girls' medley relay team; 10 year boys' medley relay team; 9 year girls' medley relay 'A' team.

Bronze: Mark McNee, 12 year 50m backstroke; Hannah Cattrell, 12 year 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle; Lee Brogan, 10 year 50m backstroke; Matthew Lunt, 10 year 50m butterfly; 10 year girls' freestyle relay team; 10 year boys' freestyle relay team.

Finalists: 9 year girls' medley 'B' team (Jenny O'Neill, Danielle Osler, Alayna Carlyle, Holly Cattrell, Karl Sadler, Matthew Lunt, Lee Brogan, Mark McNee).

At the North Wales Shrimp Gala at Holywell Leisure Centre, Wallasey scored a magnificent points win over local rivals Liverpool Penguins to take the Top Club Trophy for the second year running.
