GIRLS from the Castle Sports Acrobatics Club, based at Leasowe Leisure Centre, won the coveted award for Best Display Overall at the British Ministrada.

The Ministrada, staged at Everton Park Sports Centre, Liverpool, enables national and international gymnastic clubs to gather together for a weekend of displays and socialising with a competitive challenge!

Clubs from as far as Denmark and throughout the UK competed, and Castle Sports Acrobatics Club produced a good display to take the premier title.

The club hopes to gain sponsorship to help fund new equipment and tracksuits. The girls are also in desperate need of new mats - they have so far raised £2,000 but need £5,000 to replace the worn out mats.

Additionally, at events such as the Ministrada it is important the girls look like a team and appearance is important. Parents have purchased club leotards and shorts and club funds have managed tracksuit tops, but unfortunately the bottoms are still a distant dream! Anyone who can help with sponsorship should contact Tracy Platt on 677-1008.

Club coaches supervise British Amateur Gymnastics Association classes for all who wish to attend. Classes are held three times a week: Wednesday (4pm-5pm), Saturday (11.30am-12.30pm) and Sundays (9am-10am).
