NEW Brighton continue their quest for cup glory on Saturday, when they entertain Blaydon Reds at Reeds Lane in a NPI National Cup fourth round tie (kick-off 2.15pm).
The Tynsiders travelled 185 miles to defeat Oldershaw in the last round, but the 186 mile trip to Reeds Lane could prove a mile too far as the Blues look to progress ever closer to a Twickenham final.
In the annual Boxing Day Challenge at Reeds Lane, New Brighton beat Old Birkonians 17-0, with scores from H. Williams, P. Kay and S. Clegg recording New Brighton's first win in this game for several seasons, again underlying the Blues' increasing squad strength.
