THE Berryman Lace Mawer Hockey League has a mid-season break until January 17, so Bebington played four friendlies against Wigan, on Saturday.

Wigan first team are a division above Bebington, so to go there and win 3-1 was a satisfactory result. Wigan took the lead with a first-half penalty, but Bebington pulled this back by half-time and then controlled the game with two further goals. Scorers were John McMullen, 2, and Phil Robinson.

The 2nd X1 gave a run out to two young third team players to give them a taste of the future and ran out 4-2 winners with goals by Chris Sullivan, 2, Steve Knight and Paul Marchant.

Bebington 3rd X1 also experimented and drew 3-3 with their Wigan counterparts. Goal scorers were Trevor Sansom, Stuart Waddell and Ravanelli. The fourth team, a mixture of 4th, 5th and 6th team players, had an easy, emphatic 6-1 win, with goals from Geoff Knight, 2, Tich Wild, 2, Dave Farrington and Steve Johnson.
