SECOND meeting of the Merseyside Schools' Girls Cross Country League was held at The Oval, Bebington. Interest and representation from Wirral is gradually improving, with increasing numbers competing in the lower age group.
In the Year Seven race, Wirral had their largest representation, with Rebecca Davis (Upton) first local runner home. Lindesay Quirke (St Mary's) was 19th, Katie Roberts (Upton) 27th, Kerry Lawlor (Upton) 34th and Rosie Murphy (71st).
In the Under-14 race, Lindesay Doyle (West Kirby) was third with Nicki Smith (Plessington) 20th, Ruth Barber (Wirral) 41st, Lisa Taylor (Hilbre) 50th, Jo Hiton (Wirral) 65th and Carole Williams (Rock Ferry) 73rd.
In the Under-16 race, Jennie Alison (Plessington) was 12th, followed by Vicki Rooney (Weatherhead) 13th, Sarah McDonnell (Bebington High) 16th and Laura Williams (Beb) 24th.
