SECOND round of the North West Association of Sea Angling Clubs' Winter League produced a match of two halves at Mostyn, on the Dee Estuary.

While team members in the upriver zones scratched for flatfish, anglers in the seaward zones bagged up with whiting two at a time.

Team Leisure Angling 'A's' consistent performance enabled them to consolidate their series lead. There was another fine second place for a rejuvenated Wirral Sea Eagles, while the redoubtable Wirral Sea Anglers, back to full strength, kept the championship within sight with a strong third place, jointly with Personal Members Red.

In the individual stakes, Tranmere's Dave Evans was kept busy, using fresh and frozen peeler crab to great effect for the best top weight in a League Match for a long time.
