BOOMING discount department store group TJ Hughes, who have a branch in Birkenhead, has announced a major new store in Burnley. The purpose-built store will create 75 new jobs when in opens in Autumn, 1999.
The announcement of the new store comes at the end of a highly successful year for TJ Hughes. In October, the company announced record half-year results with a 13 per cent expansion in turnover and a doubling of pre-tax profits.
And the company will be expanding further in 1998 with the opening of a 19th new store in Shrewsbury next Easter and the addition of 23,000 sq feet of extra selling space to the company's flagship store in Liverpool.
