INTREPID Wallasey cyclists Alan Conroy and James Watson have raised lots of money for charities and organisations, and set out on a charity cycle ride on Christmas Day to raise money for the restoration of Vale Park Bandstand, and Beckwith Children's Centre.

Alan and James rode from their homes in Wallasey hoping to reach Beeston Castle in Cheshire, but bad weather forced them back. The super saddlers have pledged to complete the journey when the weather improves. To date they have managed to raise £800 and would appreciate any extra funds.

Vale Park Bandstand is vandalised and is in urgent need of restoration, and Alan hopes this cycle ride will help pay for improvements.

Mayor of Wirral, Coun Barney Gilfoyle donated £200 from the Mayor's charity fund, and meat factory Tulip from New Brighton have donated £100.

If you can help with sponsorship, phone Alan on 638-3569 or James on 639-8811.
