From K.M. Gerrie:-
I DO hope your headlines 'Get a smoke alarm' (Wirral Globe, December 10) will be noted by readers and they heed the warnings.
We keep hearing of people being injured or killed because of fire in the home, and it must be devastating and heartbreaking for all involved, and their families.
As you stated, a smoke alarm can cost only £3.99 and this will give an early warning of fire when any smoke activates it, thereby giving the residents time to vacate the house before the fire spreads.
When the smoke alarm sounds it is urgent to get everyone out, at once.
On a lighter note, a word of congratulations toll that have been involved in making Christmas shopping a pleasure in the Birkenhead centre.
The decorations are beautiful, the roads litter free and the staff in stores are pleasant and polite.
Visitors have been coming from Chester, Liverpool and Wales and I am sure they have been impressed by the town.
