From Hugh Lloyd,

Merseytravel Vice-Chair:-

The 70 bus service, which caused Mr Irate to so name himself (Mailbox, December 3) is to be completely revamped, bringing a modern, clean, efficient and passenger focused service to the Woodchurch Estate in early Spring.

The Woodchurch circular is to be upgraded to SMART standard - the benchmark for bus travel on Merseyside - in a partnership between bus operator Crosville and Merseytravel, the public funded co-ordination body.

SMART is already massively successful in Liverpool. It includes low-floor, easy access buses, combined with state-of-the-art shelters and information.

Merseytravel has worked hard to ensure the new package gets the approval of the local community, distributing 4,000 questionnaires. Of the 1,000 returned the vast majority were enthusiastically supportive.

Plus the package has received a resounding thumbs up from the local community based Merseytravel Advisory Panel.

Mr Irate may have missed out on all this information. But I assure him that a Merseytravel is working with Crosville to deliver the Woodchurch Estate a model of excellence in bus provision.
