From Disappointed:-
WE are all being encouraged to leave our cars at home and use public transport. Had I the choice I would never leave my car at home. During the Merseyrail strike at the beginning of the month I went late night shopping in Liverpool. I was informed that one bus ran on an hourly basis through the Queensway Tunnel. A considerable number of people waited for the 7pm bus which turned out to be a minibus. Why do bus services not take advantage of rail strikes at a peak period of Christmas shopping and run extra and full-sized buses?
The following day while returning from shopping in Birkenhead I waited 40 minutes, along with many others, for a 64/64A bus.
These are not isolated incidents, there appears to be a long standing problem of late and none running of buses. A radical improvement of public transport services needs to take place if anyone is to be tempted to leave their car at home.
