ARCHERS Health Club, Upton, is to host the first Merseyside Indoor Rowing Championships next month.

Two separate competitions will be run, testing both speed and endurance - fastest over 2,000 metres and a 30-minute distance event. Both contests will have separate men's and women's and age group categories (Under-18, Open and Vets - over 40).

The event, at Archers Health Club, Ford Road, Upton, on March 28-29, is being supported by Concept II, and is in aid of the Hoylake Wednesday Special Needs Club, which supports children with special needs.

Some 300 competitors are expected to take part in the Merseyside event, and times achieved will be entered in the world rankings held by Concept II.
